Simply put

There are a number of drafts sitting in their folder (and my head), waiting to be revised for publishing; topics that are interesting on massively large scales such as religion, happiness, self-exploration, and even things like exercise’s effects on our brains. These would surely do more for engagement, so it would make a lot of sense for me to go ahead and dive back into them, clean them up, and get one or two out there, but by the hands of a whim I’ve been pulled to this conclusion:

I’m going to quote some songs.

Music is one of the things I cherish most, and I’d like to share some of my favorite lyrics and verses. That’s all, enjoy.

“Memo”, Kota the Friend

New day, new dollar, I'm making change

I leverage all of my knowledge and profit off of my pain

I copped a deserted island and kept it far from the rain

I noticed nothing was growing and then it went up in flames

Living for the moment, I keep it all in the frame

I chose to live in reality, exit out of the game

Film photo filter banalities of the world

And if it entertain, then morality down the drain

Happiness is what I'm getting to

Everything you taking in should make an even bettеr you

I'm human and I urge you to never put mе on pedestals

I hope you never trade a better view for a better view

I hope you making sure all your trauma don't get the best of you

Hope the person inside that mirror has been respecting you

Hope you treat your virtuous qualities like collectibles

Hope you love yourself by accepting the blessings meant for you

“For Colored Boys”, Kota the Friend

Have patience

And always make time for family and celebration

And every good thing in life requires dedication

Like career, wife, kids, and the spiritual

The point of our existence isn't physical

Make sure there is love in your livin' room

And make sure that you there for the ones that you give it to

And grudges'll do you no good

Life is too short to be stressin'

Love your friends for who they are

If they there when you're down

Then you should keep 'em around

And then return that favor tenfold

Everything you hidin' will be exposed

So you should probably keep it a thousand youngin' and let go

Embrace humiliation it's humblin'

And take every situation for what it is

Love is free so don't be possessive

Love is a combination of lettin' go and holdin' tight

You'll learn when to do which

And get more love than you know what to do with

And you gon' make mistakes 'cause homie you only human

But that ain't no excuse to be foolish

“Only a Lifetime”, Finneas

Don't waste the time you have waiting for time to pass

It's only a lifetime

That's only a while

It's not worth the anger you felt as a child

Don't waste the time you have waiting for time to pass

It's only a lifetime

That's not long enough

You're not gonna like it without any love

So don't waste it

It's family and friends, and that's the truth

The fountain doesn't give you back your youth

It's staying up too late at night and laughing under kitchen lights

So hard you start to cry

Don't waste the time you have waiting for time to pass

It's only a lifetime

That's not long enough

You're not gonna like it without any love

So don't waste it

“Colors and Shapes”, Mac Miller

While beneath the ocean, I met with the captain

Who sank to the floor on his ship

All of his passengers escaped to safety

But he was not done with his trip

He looked up and smiled, asked me, "How do you do?"

I told him, "I'm losin' my grip"

He told me, "Son, if you want to hold onto yourself, then let yourself slip"

Fall

They invade your minds and then fill them with nonsense

These things that a man doesn't need

Take out the love and the passion and hope

And they fill it with nothing but greed

While floating through galaxies, they said I couldn't

I noticed how sad one can get

'Cause the ignorant mind is so peaceful

I find I can't understand nothin' no more

If I jump, let me

Fall
